Filming the ending - D

Here are some photographs of the two protagonists, Esli and I. In terms of tribes/demographics, both Esli and I would fall into the target audience of our video, have a look at the ironic rap squats for proof. It was a fairly long day of filming and we got a large amount of stuff done.

Iconography and Symbolism - D

The first half of our video consists largely of a montage of shots, all either amplifying the lyrics on screen, or being closely related in one way or another. They fit the genre iconography and the lyrics in specific ways, some more obvious than others.

This, for instance is an obvious example of amplifying, the lyrics matching it are "great love it takes time", and the image of a clock is a fairly obvious representation of that. Originally we wanted to do a time-lapse of the hands moving, but we sacrificed this in order to have the light come across it.

Again, these shots are symbolic of sexuality and physical representation of emotion. The lyrics for the first shot are "tight as the grip of a squid/gentle as the finger-touch of a newborn kid"

Furthering this idea, we have a strong feature of the colour red, which has connotations of passion, virility. This loud colour in the first half of the video contrasts with the latter, largely bleak half.

The candles in the darkness again have more contrast between the white of the flames and the dark, contrasting the times of the past (passion, hot, warm palette) with the times of the future (bleak, dreary, etc.)

Religious iconography, especially that found in catholicism has ties of self-punishment and sin.
